Got A Home Business Idea ? Think Before You Start
To anyone who is thinking of starting a home business on the Internet then I have some advice to offer.
A few years ago I decided that I wanted to start a home business and make money on the Internet, to work the hours that I wanted, when I wanted and have complete freedom from the 9 - 5 grind.
I had a new PC, had worked in the sales and service industry most of my life and had a reasonable knowledge of IT so I thought this shouldn’t be too hard right ?.
Wrong, I was like a lamb to the slaughter because for all my experience with business in general, I had no clue about Internet Marketing which is a science that has to be learned.
I spent many months signing up for and in some cases buying into many schemes and programs that looked great until I realised that the only people making the money were the ones at the top.
After some time I discovered Strong Future International or SFI as it is called and that is when the tide started to turn. It is a great program that I am still involved with and as a result of that I discovered the Plug In Profit Site or PIPS as it is called and again it was a life changing experience to sign up with such a great program and both of these I can highly recommend.
The fact is that no matter how good your programs are and how good the training is, there is no substitute for an online mentor to guide you in the early days to avoid the pitfalls.
The point of this article is that I would like to recommend a group of individuals called the PIPS Power Group or PPG as they are called. These are a group of highly successful PIPS members and entrepreneurs who decided that they were sick of seeing good, honest people fail in this business for the want of a good mentor and I highly recommend that you should take a look at what they have to offer, it could change your life.
When I discovered the PPG it was a light bulb moment for me because what these brilliant people do it to lay everything out in simple terms from day one and guide you thru every single step of starting a home based Internet Business.

Internet marketing usually means that you don’t get to meet your customers directly so when you are selling your product you have to try and get into the mind of your customer and see inside their world.
It may seem a strange question to ask but if you have a home business idea and you want to make some money on the Internet then great. You have done your homework, decided on a budget, chosen your Niche etc etc.
Let me explain:-
If you buy a car, are you just buying a car, NO !!, what you are buying is independence, freedom, being able to take your own route to work, avoid delays and roads works, leave the house a bit later, play your own music etc etc.
If you buy a lawn mower, are you just buying a lawn mower, NO !!, what you are buying is a beautifully manicured lawn.
Any woman will tell you that she doesn’t go to the same hairdresser all the time just because she wants her hair done properly. Of course she wants it done properly but she also goes to that person all the time because she has built up a special relationship with him or her. She has a friend, a confidant, someone she can trust and even if that hairdresser puts his or her prices up, the chances are that the customer will still go because she is not just getting her hair done, she is in her comfort zone whilst she is there.
My advice to anyone starting a home business or in fact any business especially if you are looking to make money on the Internet is to try and understand what it is that you are actually selling. Even with the best home business ideas you still have to convince people to sign up with your program so you should try to paint a picture in their minds of how this will benefit their lives.
Remember all the reasons you started yourself, missing the 9 – 5 grind, freedom from traffic jams, picking your own hours, more time with your family, in other words you are selling “RESULTS”.
In any sales environment you will here the expression ‘features and benefits’ so bear in mind when you are looking to sign up visitors to your program that you are no different.
In summary, always try and paint a picture, try and get into the world of the visitor and sell the “RESULTS” of joining your program and this strategy will attract the right people to your niche and improve your conversion rate.

Should You Compete On Price?
The Internet is a very competitive place for selling things. As new Internet home businesses come online you will be attacked in many ways including price. Ultimately there will come a time when you must determine whether you should compete based on the price of your product or not? Before you do consider these strategies.

Is it worth losing potential sales because you are overpriced when in reality you could increase your sales by cutting the price? The only way to determine how you can profitably price a product is to know exactly what overhead is involved in creating it.
3. What are your ongoing costs associated with the product? Everybody has to promote their product on the Internet somehow. If you are a master of promoting with free and nearly free advertising you may be able to reflect that in your price.
However do not make the mistake of forgetting about your time involved! Time is money and you should calculate yours on an hourly rate to determine how much money you need to make to break even and create a profit with your home business.
4. Can you add value to the product as opposed to dropping the price? Many successful Internet marketers include bonuses to justify the cost of their product.
However a better strategy is to enhance the product itself in some way. This makes the product more valuable at the price you are trying to charge.
Bonuses become somewhat stale in that they are not unique. If you can avoid giving bonuses away and make the product itself seem worth more, you will be able to avoid dropping your price to make more sales.
