Over recent years I must have read hundreds of books about success, personal growth, self-help, motivation and so on. I know most of the authors and can tell you about dozens of success systems. But the day I came across the thoughts of Tony Robbins was the day that changed my life forever. I have never met Tony Robbins personally and would love to meet him one day, but I have met his books and his success system.

If you are running a home business or are looking at ways to make money working from home then I suppose you may already know about Tony Robbins. He is the father of motivation, the guru of personal coaching and the most famous infopreneur in the world.

Step 1: Goal (Outcome)
When you start, you should identify what is your goal, your outcome, what you want to achieve. You should know precisely what you want. Your goal has to contain three important components:
Desired outcome. What is it you want? -

Deadline. When do you want to achieve it? -

Success conditions. How will you know when you have achieved the goal?

Step 2: Action
Take action towards your goal. Prepare a plan and do something every day to get closer to your goal.

Step 3: Results
While you are taking these actions to achieve your goal, you must monitor the results. Check that you know the result of every action you take and check if it moves you towards the goal or further away from it.

Step 4: Adaptation
After you have evaluated the results from the previous step, you should keep this course of action. Or you might need to completely change your strategy in order to move towards your goal with every step you make.

Here is a typical example about the application of this simple but powerful success formula. Let’s say you want to get more traffic to your blog. The formula may be applied like this

1. Your Goal: I want to achieve 1000 daily unique visitors (desired outcome) in 3 months from now (deadline). I will know that I have achieved this goal by checking my stats counter.

2. Your Action: Prepare a marketing plan and daily writing plan. Comment in blogs, post in forums, make SEO, etc. Do it daily.

3. Results: Check the results in your stats account and monitor the traffic results, up or down. Check if anything has changed?

4. Adaptation: If traffic goes up - then you are achieving success, continue with your actions. If traffic goes down - analyze the reasons, research and make changes in your plan and in your actions. If your traffic has no change - maybe you should persist with the current plan and perform current actions until you achieve some change.

Are You Fit To Run A Home Business

The title of this article has nothing to do with a person's integrity but more to do with the planning and preparation required to run a home business. Many people are so eager to earn what they think is easy money or quick cash that in their haste they forget to carry out some basic preparations to work from home effectively.

Your Premises

You need to have a designated room in your home for your business which is going to be a place of work just like any other and as such should be suitable for purpose and free from distraction. It can be difficult to persuade friends and family that you must not be disturbed when you are in your office but this is essential if you are to concentrate on working from home.

Your Equipment

It may sound ancient now but in reality, any operating system at or above Windows 98 SE is suitable for Broadband connection which is preferred for an Internet Home Business for speed of operation but if you are working on a tight budget then you can use Dial Up internet which is a lot slower but will get you there. Unfortunately a lot of providers have phased out Dial Up all together but shop around, not for the cheapest but for the most reliable Internet Service Provider (ISP) for your money as well as good tech support should you need it. This is your most important investment as without it you have no business to run. If you are working internationally then a Skype account will enable you to make PC to PC telephone calls over the internet at zero cost in most cases.

Health and Safety

This is often overlooked when working from home but is just as important because you are going to be spending one third of your life sitting in front of you PC.. Take a break away from your screen every two to three hours to avoid Display Screen Equipment (DSE) eye strain. Invest in a comfortable chair (don't scrimp on this), it should have adjustable back and arm rests and height adjustment. One of the most common causes of musculoskeletal injuries and repetitive strain injuries is as a result of bad posture. Your back should be supported and you should be able to sit comfortably without crouching forward, your forearms should be horizontal on the desk in front of you as a lot of wrist strain problems are caused by bending your wrists up or down when using the keyboard. A foot rest is also recommended.

Training

You don't have to be an expert with your PC to run a Internet Home Business but some basic knowledge is essential which can be gained from local schools or colleges perhaps at evening classes for little or no charge. As a basic level, you should be able to use a word processor to write articles, be able to copy and paste, send and receive emails with attachments, name and store information files and a database of clients etc.

If you are thinking of starting a home business and mention the words “multi level marketing” most people will tell you, “No, it’s nothing but a pyramid scheme!” But is that really true? You may come to realize that what this company is focused on is recruiting people, getting them to pay a membership fee, and then getting them to recruit more people – and so on and so forth. When a company doesn’t have a real product that they are concerned with selling, you are definitely dealing with a pyramid scam.

The best home business ideas are usually discovered after doing a bit of research and using common sense when making your decision. An important thing to note here is that you shouldn’t be confused by the fact that the company does actually have a product. Most multi level marketing companies have something they profess to sell, from travel deals to nutritional supplements. But is that really their bread and butter? A bad company will need to recruit right out of the gate will not really care what you think of the products or if you even buy them at all.

Last but not least, if you are keen to start a home business you may wonder what the harm actually is in a pyramid scam. Well, they’re destined to fail, they prey on those who are looking for quick cash, can least afford to take part, and they’re illegal. All good reasons to protect yourself from getting involved. If it looks too good to be true, then is usually is.
